l Mr. Joseph M. Hendrie, Chairman Nuclear Regulatory Commission 1717 H Street, NW Washington, D. C.

20555

Dear Mr. Hendrie:

We are writing to express our deep concern about the possi-ble release of contaminated wastewater into the Susquehanna River during the cleanup operation of the Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant.

We understand that NRC has approved a decontamination of the wastewater which would allow a re-lease of certain contaminants.

Since we have a large area of our County which borders on the Susquehanna River, as well as communities who extract water for public consumption, we would vehemently oppose the release of any contaminants.

The accident at Three Mile Island is most regretable.

How-ever, if contaminants are released it will only expand the area of impact and will perpetuate its existence.

Having one of the most beautiful estuaries on the east coast (Susquehanna River) which fits into the Bay, we would re-quesc your most sincere consideration, followed by the ap-propriate action that would not permit the release of these contaminants into our valuable waters.
