This telegram is to confirm the conversation between Mr. t.ee Spessard (Region 1-CRC), and J. J. Colitz. TMI Unit i Superintendent at 1430 hours0.0166 days <br />0.397 hours <br />0.00236 weeks <br />5.44115e-4 months <br />, 21 August 1975.
On August 21. 1975 between 0053 and 0231 an inadvertcrit release of radio-active ceterial occurred over a period of approximately I hour and 37 minutes.
The inadvertdnt radioactive material release occurred due to the loss Loss of the Reclaimed of the Reclaf=ed Coric Acid Tank "S". Loop Seal.
Loop Seal occurred when a leak developed at a fitting in the piping associated with the loop seal sight glass.
Analysis " the radiation effluent monitor -(RM-A3) reccrder charts and loca:
released.3s pred ninately 233Xe (ICC"). and that the instantaneous noble gas release rate was 1.55 E 4 M3/Sec. which is belcw the technical specification limit of 1.2 x 1GM3/Sec. The average release rate over the I hour and 37 minute pericd of this -release was 8 51 curies.

The twenty-four (20) h:ur averare release rate as 4.17:10 '*uct/cc.
This exceeded, by greater than SCO tices, the F:7C for133Xe of 3x10 7 yci/cc.
Corrective action is in progress to repair the leaking fitting.
