TMI-I OPERATING

SUMMARY

The Unit remained shutdown the entire month by order of the NRC as a result of the TMI-II incident of March 28, 1979.

MAJOR SAFETY RELATED MAINTENANCE While in the cold shutdown mode of operation the Decay Heat Pump 1B motor tripped and was severely damaged as a result of a loss of lubricating oil. The motor was removed and a temporary, higher capacity air motor was installed in its place.

The temporary motor was sufficiently tested for temperature, current, and vibration prior to return to operation.

A new " original" replacement motor is on order and will be installed prior to Unit I's return to power.
