This is in response to your request dated June 6, ;979. for delaying the start of your next physical inventory from June 19, 1979 to a date prior to, but not beyond July 13, 19.79.

We have determined that your proposed schedule is wiL'iin the intent of 10 CFR 70.51(e)(3) and will not endanger the common de ense and securi.ty, and is otherwise in the public interest. Accordingly, we are hereby granting a limited exemption from the requirements of la CFR 70.51(el(3).

Accordingly, License Condition 5.5 of Amendment MPP-3 of your License No.

SNM-1067 is hereby revised, effective immediately, to read as follows:

5.5 "In lieu of starting a physical inventory on or before June 19, 1979, the licensee shall start a physical inventory of all special nuclea'r material in his possession no later than July 13, 1979.

The licensee shall start the succeeding inventory on or before December 19, 1979, and shall thereafter perfccm physical inventories as necessary to comply with the requirements of 10 CFR 70.51(e)(_3)."

Upon implementation of Amendment MPP-4, June 15,1919, new License Condition 5.2 will be added as a continuation of the approval gran ;ed in the afore-mentioned revised License Concition 5.5.

Our. response to your additional request for authorization to start future SNM physical inventories at any time during the months of January and July is temporarily deferred to allow for a conclusion to a current in-house generic study as to the feasibility of allowing flexibility in physical inventory scheduling.
