Dear Sir:

South Texas Project Units 1 & 2 Docket Nos. STN 50-498, STN 50-499 Possible Reportable Deficiency Concerning Concrete Voids Under Embed Plates On March 12, 1980, Houston Lighting & Power notifiec the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of a potentially reportable deficiency concerning voids that were detected under the crossover leg embed plates on the +19'-0" slab in the Reactor Containment Building of Unit 1.

An evaluation has been performed which shows that this condition, if left uncorrected, would not have adversely affected the safety of operations of the plant and, therefore, is not reportable under 10 CFR 50.55(e).

The subject voids have been repaired.

Questions concerning this matter should be directed to Mr. Shawn Rodgers at (713) 676-7953.

Very truly yours, E. A. Turner Vice President Power Plant Construction
