tlk ZION 1-2 Fire Protection Review Item 3.1.3 - Gas Suppression Systems In the licensee's October 31, 1979 submittal, the fire protection for the re-dundant cable trays in the stairwell consisted of one hour fire barrier sep-aration. The licensee on March 10, 1980 submitted a revision and will now install a double shot Halon 1301 automatic gas suppression system.
The information submitted by the licensee lacked percent concentration and soak time. On March 26, 1980 a conference call was established to obtain the necessary information. Mr. H. Stolt and Mr. T. Pickens of Commonwealth Edison indicated that the initial concentration was 32.05% and that with an extended discharge the concentration would stabilize at 29.54%. With these concentra-tions the 7% concentration for 20 minutes will be met. The second system has the same characteristics as the intial system.
The above information was confirmed by a letter dated March 28, 1980 from Mr.
Leo Derderian of NRC.
Based upon the above review the gas suppression system protecting the redun-dant cables in the stairwell is acceptable.
