Dear Ms. Morse:

This letter is in response to your petition dated May 21, 1979, requesting that the Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation or Inspection and Enforcement issue an order suspending Provisional Operating License No. DPR-45 issued for operation of Dairyland Power Cooperative's La Crosse Boiling Water Reactor.

Your request has been considered under the provisions of 10 CFR 2.206 of the Commission's regulations. As discussed in the enclosed Decision, the staff supports your concern about the liquefaction issue at La Crosse. Therefore, your petition has been 3 ranted in part and denied in part.

A copy of the Notice of Issuance of the Director's Decision which is being filed with the Office of Federal Register for publication is also enclosed.

A copy of this Decision will be placed in the Commission's Public Document Room at 1717 H Street, N. W., Washington, D. C.
