,..elled a scheduled meeting to discuss problems with the Genos reactor g,.2 the NRC after finding that nerbers of CREC had driven to Washington p be p-esent for the discussion.
r:e aura of secrecy surrounding the Genoa reactor., and the conte =pt for
,.eg,-sesible co-op member involvement shcren by Iniryland Power, can no
- x pr be tolerated. The members of the " cooperative", as well as the, p-eral public, deserve to be included in all decisions concerning the see:e cuelear power plant.
y:e Safger Safe Energy Alliance therefore stron5 7 requests that the 1
re" hold any and all reetings concerning the Genos resetor in the Iacrosse, ITsecasin area. This vil.1 not only facilitate co-op member involvement, i;; vill afford a fair and reasonable opportunity for input fron the inte-venors.
ve remind you that because Wisconsin lav' exempts electric cooperatives fren the jurisdiction of the Public Service C-ission in our State, the KR:: is the ONLY reEulatoz/ aEency that can adequately oversee the situation at the Genoa reactor. And it is ONLY before the NRC that the public can j-find acy redress of Erievances against the operators of the plant.
We believe that our request is quite reasonable, and that the NRC should l
I travel to the Lacrosse area for any future meetin5s concerning the Genoa reactor, whether the meetinE is requested by Dairyland Power or not.
l If the NRC chooses to deny this request, it can only raise a serious dentt as to the CH ssion's i= partiality in the Genoa power plant pro-ceedings.
