Amendment 43 to Facility Operating License

Dear Sir:

Subjec t: Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus for Control Room Personnel Section 3.1.14 of the Fire Protection Safety Evaluation Report states that self-contained breathing apparatus, including spare bottles, will be placed for ready access by control room personnel. There was no indication that the Staff required confirmation that this was done.

However, during a recent telephone conversation, it was stated that you did desire such a confirmation.

Vermont Yankee has placed, for ready access by control room personnel, three self-contained breathing aparatus and three spare bottles. This provides each of the three operators normally in the control room with a minimum of 40 minutes of air. Additional bottles of air are available on site if needed.

We trust this reponds to you concern.

Very truly yours, VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER CORPORATION NY
