Dear Ms. Weiss:
On March 4,1980, you sent me a letter in which you requested a copy of material sent to the Appeal Board by the Staff regarding turbine disc cracking and its relationship to the operation of North Anna-Unit 1.
Based on our telephone conversation of March 5,1980, I understand your request to be only for the enclosures to my letter to the Appeal Board dated February 19, 1980.
Accordingly, I am enclosing a copy of my February 19, 1980 letter with attachments to you as an interested member of the public.
However, the Staff would strongly disagree with your characterization of UCS as having
" extensively participated" in this proceeding, in light of the fact that UCS neither submitted testimony nor did it even send a representative to the Appeal Board's June 20, 1979 hearing sess. ion dealing with turbine missiles.
