This letter is submitted pursuant to the request of this Board. set forth in its Memorandum and Order dated February 15, 1980, at page 7, that it be advised of the Staff's latest estimate for completion of construction and for issuance of its environmental and safety review documents, as well as the Staff's views on discovery and the scheduling of a prehearing cen-ference and hearing. The members of the NRC Staff in charge of the environ-mental and safety reviews currently estimate issuance of their review documents as follows:
DES Issuance -- May 15, 1980 SER Issuance -- September 15, 1980 FES Issuance -- October 15, 1980 SER Supplement-- December 1980 The Staff's best estimate for completion of the construction of the Fermi, Unit 2 facility is June 1981.
1 With regard to scheduling of future discovery and the prehearing conference and the hearing, we have initiated discussions with the Applicant and Intervenor but have not yet reached agreement.
Further discussions of these matters are anticipated next week.
