Docket Nos. 50-498A, -499A; Texas Utilities Generating Company (Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station; Units 1 and 2) Docket Nos. 50-445A, -446A Gentlemen:

Today Houston has filed its Motion of Houston Lighting

& Power Company to Compel Fuller Production by the NRC Staff and.its Expert Economic Witness and Response to Staff's Motion to Modify Subpoena, a copy of which is enclosed for each member of the Board.

This motion seeks fuller production of documents re-lating to the work or testimony of Dr. Norman Lerner, the NRC Staff's designated expert economic witness. In light of the short time remaining until Dr. Lerner's deposition

-on March 17, Houston is concerned that delays in resolving the issues raised by this Motion will result in Houston not receiving documents necessary for a thorough examination during his deposition of Dr. Lerner's work in this case and his conclusions therefrom. Accordingly, Houston requests the following expedited schedule:

March 12, 1980 Responses hand-delivered to the Board and Houston by the Staff (and any other respond-ing party).

March 13, 1980 Conference call to resolve issues raised by this Motion.

t

' At the option of the Board, Houston would accept oral argu-ment before the Board in lieu of a conference call on

' March 13.

A proposed order implementing this schedule is attached.
