Waterford SES - Unit No. 3 Docket No. 50-382 Status of Significant Construction Deficiencies No. 6 " Emergency Diesel Generators-Defective Shafts & Springs" No. 10 " Defective Emergency Generator Roller Pin"

Dear Mr. Seyfrit:

In accordance with the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e), LP&L has previously submitted interim reports of the two Significant Construction Deficiencies concerning the emergency diesel generators. As stated in Reference e), l modifications correcting the deficiencies were scheduled to be completed and a final report submitted by March 15,1980.

l l

Further delaying problems were encountered at the onset of corrective action l efforts for these incidents when it was realized that clearance problems would be encountered with the hoisting mechanism of the emergency diesel generators overhead monorail crane. Modifications will be performed on this crane to allow full access to the emergency diesel generators. This delay still does not adversely impact the Waterford 3 construction schedule and is acceptable.

Based on the above, in addition to adding adequate time for installation and inspection activities, we will now submit final reports for Significant Construction Deficiencies No. 6 and No. 10 by September 30,1980.
