I February 5, 1980 Dairyland Power Cooperative Lacrosse Boiling Water-Reactor P.O. Box 135 Genoa, Wisconsin 54632 Attention:

Mr. Dick Shimshak Plant Superintendent

Dear Dick:

This letter is to confirm our telephone conversation of January 29, 1980 with an attached NRC, IE Information Notice No. 79-37, Cracking in Low Pressure Turbine Discs.

The Allis-Chalmers turbine generator unit that you have in your plant does not incorporate any shrunk-on discs on either the HP or LP turbine spindles.

Therefore, the problems reported and the inspections discussed in IE Information Notice No. 79-37 will CI not apply to your unit.

This unit has solid shafts throughout, with blade insertions directly into the spindle body.

If you need any further information on this subject, please let us know.

Sincerely, Jf.
