September 14, 1979 MEMORANDUM FOR:
J. T. Collins, Deputy Director TMI Support FROM:
J. Y.. Lee TMI Support t
SUBJECT:
TMI-2 CONTAINMENT BUILDING WATER SAMPLE ANALYSIS RESULTS We have obtained the results of the TMI-2 containment building water sample analysis from ORNL.
Three water samples were obtained through containment building penetration R-401 at elevation 292'0" on August 25, 1979, and sa=ples were taken at (1) water surface at elevation 290'6",
(2) approximately 4 '6" below water surf ace at elevation 286'0", and (3) approximately 3" above containment building bottom floor at elevation 282'9".
Attached sample analysis results are as follows:
(1.)
Table 1, Solution Characteristics The sample pH ranged from 8.0 to 8.1 and gelatinous precipitates.in the bottom sa=ple were dissolved readily with addition of acid into the solution. The precipitates dried at 110 e weighted 0.4 mg/ml of sample
-solution.
(2) _ Table 2, Radiochemical Analysis of Three Sample Solution Iodine-129 values were obtained by converting from 0.079 (top) 0.080 (middle) and 0.076 (bottom) ugm/ ml determined by neutron activation analysis.
