Inspection ~ Summary:
Inspection on November 28-30, December 1,1978 (Recorts 70-1143/78-19 and 70-1684/78-02)
Areas Inspected:
Announced Inspection and surve, !ance of protective measures afforded an overseas shipment of SNM.
Specific areas included:
Security Plan, advance notification; pre planning procedures; guard instructions; radiological survey; containers and seals; communications and records.
The inspection involved 236 inspector hours by seven regional based inspectors.
Results:
Of the eight areas examined no apparent items of noncompliance were identified.
Enroute the transport vehicle when traveling on Interstate 70, in the vicinity of Smithton, Pennsylvania exit, was fired upon and hit by several pellets believed fired from a shotgun.
No damage sustained to vehicle or personnel and shipment not in jeopardy.
FBI investigating.
