REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC COMPANY LLC 2019 DECOMMISSIONING FUNDING PLAN UPDATE - ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2019-DFA-0004.

Dear Mr. Couture:

By letter dated July 25, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) No. ML19206A043), Westinghouse Electric Company LLC submitted an updated decommissioning funding plan (DFP) as required by Section 70.25 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), which requires Westinghouse to provide triennial updates to its DFP for its Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility. The submission includes an updated decommissioning cost estimate and specifies that the licensee will provide executed financial assurance instruments after the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) review and approval of the cost estimate. Our review of your application has identified that additional information is needed before final action can be taken.

The additional information, specified in the enclosure, should be provided within 30 days from the date of this letter.

Pending your response, we anticipate completing our review by the end of February 2020. This date could change depending on the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).

This letter is decontrolled when separated from the enclosure.
