Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No.1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 IE Bulletin 79-14 Gentlemen:

Duquesne Light Company letter dated August 14, 1980, to Mr. Boyce H.

Grier, reports the current status of the ongoing effort in response to IE Bulletin 79-14. This schedule is based on evaluating any "as-built" discrepancies against the interim pipe stress and supports criteria described in the Report on the Reanalysis of Safety Related Piping Systems for Beaver Valley Unit No. 1 dated August 3, 1979, and the NRC's order for termination of the proceeding initiated by the show cause order dated March 31, 1979, for the Beaver Valley Power Station Unit No.1 issued on August 8, 1979. This interium criteria considers the Design Basis Earth-quake Inertia plus dead load (DBEI+DL) case and includes the continuing commitment to shut the plant down for inspection in the event that a veri-fied seismic acceleration of 0.01g or more'is registered by the in-plant accelerometers. Any discrepancies which result in overstress conditions when evaluated using the interim criteria will be declared non-conformances and will be reported in accordance with the requirements of IE Bulletin 79-14.

The long term evaluation of any "as-built" discrepancies will be based on the appropriate loading combination for both the Design Basis and Operating Basis Earthquakes. Any modification required to rectify any overstressed condition resulting from the application of the long term criteria will be accomplished prior to startup after the next refueling outage.

Very truly yours, fbjj(...~
