20555 To Whom it May Concern:
I am interested in nuclear power and how it can help solve the energy' problems of today and tomorrow.
I would like to know how it works and more about the whole idea behind the use of nuclear power.
There is one problem I do have.
If nuclear reactors are so safe, then why are there plants that had to be shut down.
For example, what happened with the Three-mile Island plant?
There was radioactive materials released into the air and it spread for more than 20 miles.
The people there didn't know what was happening until some 5 or 7 hours8.101852e-5 days
0.00194 hours
1.157407e-5 weeks
2.6635e-6 months
later.
Many people or some of the residents in that area were afraid to return to their homas.
Many of them what to sell their homes but nobody w~nts to buy them because of what had happened.
a They are also afraid that this radioactive material has affected their children but don't know yet.
I am happy to see that someone is trying to find other ways for the future years to have energy other than oil.
The idea of building nuclear power plants is a good idea, because it doesn't have many pollutants and that is good.
I would like to thank you for giving this letter some attention and would like very much to have a reply.
Sincerely, W.
