Dear Mr. Reeves:

At a January 11, 198u meetir.g with the NRC Staff Commonwealth Edison was requested to provide certain meteorological and design information for the Staff to utilize in its review of the Zion / Indian Point Near Site Study.

Following is a status of the requested information.

With regard to the meteorological information requested, Mr.

J. Levine of NRC Staff and Dr. J. Golden of Commonwealth Edison have discussed the information needed and agreed on the following.

Commonwealth Edison will provide a copy of the Zion Meteorological data tape for 1976 plus data from meteorological towers at its nearby Waukegan Station to Pickard Lowe & Garrick (PL&G).

PL&G will complete and reformat the data for use in the CRAC code and provide the NRC Staff with a working copy of the final reformatted product.

With regard to the requested design information, under separate cover two packages containing the design drawings listed in to this letter were transmitted to you on February 4 and 8,

1980.

The transmitted information did not include the requested radiation levels and e:.pected dosages in accessing the reactor cavity during refueling and maintenance.

This information was gathered recently ano is provi,ed below:

The radiation levels in the reactor cavity during refueling and maintenance were measured after a shutdown of three (3) months and found tG be on the order of 50-200 mr/hr with a working level of about 200 mr/hr;

Immediately after shutdown the above levels are estimated to be 50-400 mr/hr with a working level of about 400 mr/hr; and 3.

The radiation dosages incurred in accessing the reactor cavity during refueling and maintenance are estimated to be 50-100 millirem.
