SUBJECT:

REVIEW OF LICENSE AMENDMENT APPLICATION DATED MARCH 15, 1979

Background

Because of a new experimental program they wish to change their U-235 possession limits to 1400 grams of U-235 as uranium enriched up to 4% and 500 grams of U-235 at greater than 4% enrichment.

For any combination thereof the total quantity of U-235 shall not exceed the amount defined by the following equation:

mass of U-235 (uo to 4%)

mass U-235 (over 4%)

The Pu and U-233 possession limits remain the same.

Nuclear Safety The total amount of SNM at the Convoy Court Facilities is less than a critical mass taking into account the materials and enrichments involved.

Radiological Safety and Environmental Incact The proposed change in the U-235 possession limit is not sufficient to adversely affect the licensee's radiological safety program or to cause any additional environmental impact.
