Status: See Enclosure 1 Our initial Safety Evaluation Report dealing with fire protection at the Vermont Yankee facility was issued on January 13, 1978.

In Section 3 of the SER, certain items were identified as incomplete and requiring further information from the licensee and evaluatirn by the staff. We have completed our review of information dealing with some of these incomplete items as provided in licensee responses of January 30, 1978 and September 14, 1979.

The status of all incomplete items is enclosed.

Note that the licensee's response for two SER items (3.2.4 and 3.2.7) were not accepted by the staff. The requirement for 3.2.4 is included herein; the requirement for 3.2.7 was included in my memorandum dated December 26, 1979. These requirements should be transmitted to the licensee. We request a response within 20 days that indicates that the requirements will be satisfied.

If the licensee chooses to not meet these requirements, a meeting should be arranged within the same 20 days with appropriate management officials, prior to ordering compliance.
