Magnetics - Industrial Control Division Docket No. 99900386/79-01 NOTICE OF DEVIATION Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on November 28-29, 1979, it appears that certain of your activities were not conducted in accordance with NRC requirements as indicated below:
Criterion V of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50 states:
" Activities affecting quality shall be prescribed by documented instructions, procedures, or drawings, of a type appropriate to the circumstances and shall be accomplished in accordance with these instructions, procedures, or drawings.
Instructions, procedures, or drawings shall include appropriate quantitative cr qualitative acceptance criteria for de:ermining that important activities have been satisfactorily accomplished." The deviation from these requiremente is as follows:
Paragraph I.C. of "rocedure No. N-001, Revision 0, dated September 15, 1978, states, " Mark all Material Requisitions
' Inspection Required.' Documents that are initiated for purchasing parts, services, etc. are identified as:
Purchase Requisitions."
Contrary to the above, " Inspection Required" had not been marked on the following Purchase (Material) Requistions: K-2005-F83, dated November 22, 1978; K-2005-F84, dated November 9, 1978; and K-2005-F82, dated October 27, 1978.
A Magnetics Inter-Office Correspondence (IOC) was initiated and distributed on November 29, 1979. The IOC instructed initiators of Purchase Requisitions (PR) to identify them as requiring inspection. The IOC also instructed Purchasing Department personnel to withhold processing ou prs not identified as requiring inspection. Further, the IOC indicated thz.t Procedure No. N-001 would be revised by January 7, 1980. The QA Manager also stated that
" Purchase Requisitions" would be substituted for "Maturial Requisitions" in the procedure.
Based on the foregoing, no further written response is required for this deviation.
