20555 In the Matter of Virginia Electric and Power Company (North Anna Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2)
Docket Nos. 50-338 OL and 50-339 OL Centlemen:
Pursuant to your Order dated February 7,1980, I am transmitting copies of the following two Westinghouse documents that the Staff has received and which are related to the turbine missile issue in this proceeding:
1)
" Notes On The Presentation by Westinghouse Electric Corp. to Electric Utility Executives - Charlotte, North Carolina - October 30, 1979" and 2) a letter from V. S. Andersen of Westinghouse to J. W.
Ross of the NRC Staff dated December 20, 1979, with enclosures.
The technical members of the NRC Staff involved in the review of the recent turbine cracking problem inform me that these are the only Westinghouse documents that the Staff has received on the matter.
This matter was the subject of the Staff's December 12, 1979 board notification and my letter to the Appeal Board dated February 5, 1980.
The first referenced document was not initially supplied to the Staff by Westinghouse, but was submitted by an anonymous individual as reported in the December 12, 1979 board notifi-cation.
Nevertheless, Westinghouse has requested that both documents be considered proprietary.
Accordingly, the attached information is being pro-vided to the Appeal Board with the understanding that it will be kept confi-dential unless and until the Appeal Board should determine that the Westinghouse proprietary claim is insubstantial.

. I was informed today by James Christman, counsel for VEPCO, that VEPCO possesses a copy of the first referenced document.
He further informed me that VEPCO and Westinghouse are arranging an agreement for the trana-mittal to VEPCO of the information in the second referenced document which is directly related to the North Anna turbine missile issue.
Supplemental information is being transmitted to the Staff by phone from VEPCO today.
This information, as well as any further information received from any source which is relevant to the North Anna turbine missile issue will, of course, be provided to the Appeal Board.
Sincerely,
