Seidle, Chief Reactor Construction and Engineering Support Branch U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region IV 611 Ryan Plaza Drive Suite 1000 Arlington, Texas 76011 Re: Docket No. STN 50-482 Subj: Bolts

Dear Mr. Seidle:

On December 19, 1979, Reactor Inspector Mr. C.R. Oberg was advised that some bolts at Wolf Creek had been marked by field forces to indicate that they were ASME Class 1 bolts, when actually they were Class 2 or 3 bolts. Class 3 bolts at Wolf Creek have the same requirements as Class 2.

An investigation has been made and the results have been documented. The investigation shows that none of the incorrectly marked bolts were used in a location requiring Class 1 bolts.

Because a construction deficiency does not exist, we do not con-sider this matter reportable under regulation 10CFR50.55(e) .

A report is available on site which describes this problem and the corrective actions which have been taken. It is available for review by I&E Inspectors.

Yours very truly, j$
