FARLEY UNIT 1 FIRE PROTECTION PROGRAM MODIFICATIONS On December 12, 1979, a revised schedule for fire protection modifications for the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant was submitted for your information. Subsequent to this referenced submittal, a reanalysis of the requirements contained in the Fire Protection Program Reevaluation was performed and the results compared to the status of Unit 1 modifications.
Based on this reanalysis, an updated schedule with explanatory notes is attached for your information and approval.
The revised schedule represents the date at which: the work involved will be completed; verification of compliance with applicable codes will be made; and any corrective action required will be performed.

- 1. This system is complete and is operable manually.
- 2. Complete except for two (2) stations to be installed at the Service Water Building.
- 3. Complete except for one (1) steel hatch plate to be replaced with door.
Eight (8) week delivery required.
- 4. NRC Safety Evaluation required door between room 471 and room 2432, and double doors leading outside from room 474 to be fire rated. These doors provide pressure and security boundaries. APCo is presently pursuing a method of qualifying security doors for fire rating, but at this time no evidence of this dual qualification capability has been obtained.
- 5. Equipment is purchased and on site available for use.
Metal enclosures are being fabricated in order to provide permanent location of the units.
- 6. Complete except for control circuit modifications on two (2) motor operated valves.
