Futsuant to 10CFR50.55(a), Boston Edison Company must submit by February 12, 1979, proposed Technical Specifications updating our current Inservice Inspec-tion program to be consistent with the latest approved edition of A.S.M.E.
Section XI.
Recently, however, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has proposed an amendment to 10CFR50.55(a) that would allow various operating facilities to adopt the 1977 edition of Section XI through the Summer of 1978 addenda or for class 1 or class 2 pipe the 1974 edition of Section XI through the Summer of 1975 addenda.
In ]ight of the above, Boston Edison Company requests an extension from the February 12, 1979 submittal date until March 30, 1979. This would allow our staff the time necessary to properly review the alternatives generated by the recent commission acceptance of the Summer 1978 addenda.
Boston Edison Company is planning to submit a description of the inservice inspection and testing program, as well as any request for relief from the A.S.M.E.Section XI requirements determined to be impractical by May 12, 1979.
