Dear Sir:

I strongly urge that Metrepclitan Edison be directed to put TMI Unit #2 back on line immediately and that the cleanup of Unit #1 be accelerated so taat it can be on line within six months to a year, preferably sooner.

I firmly believe that government red tape and scandal cheet techniques of the news medias should be eliminated.

I believe the technical community, if unharassed by hearings and public reviews by people totally unqualified, could solve the technical prcblems and release contaminated air into the atmosphere and contaminated water into the river (when the river rises a bit) at rates that would have no significant effect.

My opinien and cenclusion are based on the following parameters:

1.

Technically qualified people are available in the utilities industry, the engineering profession, and the government for making sound engineer!.g and ecencaic decisions (if not harassed by red tape and public review).

2.

1uclear plants appear intrinsically safer than coal or oil plants in terms of overall danger and envircnmental polluticn.

3.

With the unstable CPEC situation and the werld market, it would tend to free us from reliance en foreign oils and reduce the cost per kilowatt-hour, thus, ever-so-slightly improving industries' competitive position statewide and worldwide.

4.

My kilowatt cost of electricity from Metropolitan Edisen has increased approximately 40%, and the surcharges have risen frca 3.91% to 7.29% rir.ce the " incident."

Finally, ence TMI is back on line and operating successfully, excessive red tape en nuclear plants under construction and/or en the drawing board shouli be eliminated so that this country can have adequate electricity until such time that other means of providing energy are developed to an ecencaically feasible stage. Please note, I am not for undercontrol, nor overcentrol but for practical technical control. Also, there should be tax incentives provided by both State and Federal government to the utilities to encourage both nuclear and "other" energy development.

I urge you to :r.ake every effort to get Three Mile Island back en line and encourage nuclear development.

The opinions in the letter are my oe..

My company gains nothing from TMI cleanup and operatien of both units except, hopefully, lower electricity costs.
