NRC STAFF MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME The NRC Staff hereby moves the Licensing Board for a 30-day extension of time in the above-captioned proceedings due to the unavailability of Mr.
Robert H. Hartley for medical reasons.
Mr. Hartley is the Staff's desig-nated expert engineering witness. The Staff was informed at 10:00 a.m.
this morning that Mr. Hartley, at the direction of his physician will not be able to do any work for the next 30 days.
He is on leave from R.W.
Beck, his employer. Upon learning of this situation, the Staff notified counsel for Houston Lighting & Power Company and asked them to notify counsel for Texas Utilities. The Staff is also in the process of contacting his physician for written confirmation of this matter. Mr. Hartley is central to the NRC Staff's trial preparation and direct case; the Staff will be unable, in light of these circumstances, to meet the obligations as set forth in the Board's schedule.
80031000 Q
2 For these reasons, the Staff respectfully requests a 30-day extension of time in these proceedings.
Respectfully submitted, 4
