Nu, lear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.

Dear NRC:

We of Q.S.E.C. are joined together in one common cause, to eradicate a very real threat to our existence.

We are striving to eliminate all unnecessary radiation-bearing elements from our lives.

It is our belief that nuclear reactors are a grave threat to our lives and that there is no such thing as safety where radiation is concerned.

The purpose of this meeting of the NRC is to establish a safe evacuation plan for the area surrounding the Indian Point reactor.

To limit this evacuation to a 10 mile radius is ridiculous.

There is no way of predicting where a vapor cloud of nuclear particles will fall after an accident and there is no way of repairing the damage that will occur in the Hudson River as a result of a major accident.

Finally, what will the fate of 19 million people within a 50 mile radius of Indian Point be in the event of a major accident?

Are we to bear mutant children, rampant cancer and the death of loved ones in the name of Nuclear Power and those who profit from it?

After being grossly deceived by Vietnam and Watergate, we can take no comfort in the reassurances of the government anc particularly in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The only sure way to avoid a true disaster is to PHASE OUT Indian Point and all nuclear reactors.

Keep the radioactive particles and waste OUT OF OUR ATMOSPHERE, OUT OF OUR BODIES AND OUT OF OUR LIVES.

The purposes for keeping the nuclear program alive are many.

One is to protect the billions of dollars invested in nuclear power and a second is to keep from alienating all the multi-billion dollar encrgy corporations.

We propose the following:

Instead of trying to formulate a ridiculous plan to evacuate 19 million people, let's forumlate a plan to have all the pro-nuclear members of government, Consolidated Edison, LILCO, General Electric, Westinghouse and other major power brokers live within a 10 mile radius of Indian Point.

s It is obvious that the peuple don't want nuclear power, but the government has continuea to play both sides of the fence.

So unless the government wants to find itself in another Vietnam or Watergate situation, heed this warning -- NE DO NOT WANT USELESS EVACUATION PLANS, WE DO NOT WANT USELESS SAFETY DEVICES, WE DO NOT WANT USELESS PANELS TO INVESTIGATE ACCIDENTS AND WE DO NOT WANT " DEATH LADEN" NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS.

The bottom line is, either you get rid of them, or we will.

Fondly, bb The Queens Safe Energy Coalition
