On 2-8-80 while at 100% power an indicated quadrant power tilt in~ excess of 1.02% occurred twice. These events are contrary to T.S. 3.2.4. The indicated tilts were restored to less than 1.02% within the 2-hout time allowance of the appropriate ACTION statement. This event is reportable as per T.S. 6.9.1.9.b and there are no generic implications.

Probable consecuences of Occurence:

The quadrant power tilt ratio limit assures that the radial power distribution satisfies design values used on the power capability during analysis. Since the indicated tilts were restored to within their limit during the allotted time, there was no adverse effect upon the safe operation of the plant and the health and safety of the general public were not affected.

Cause of Event:

The cause of the indicated tilt was a rod insertion. This was due to a reactor flux adjustment to perform a flux-map.

Immediate Corrective Action:

The control rods were withdrawn upon the completion of the flux-map which resulted in the indicated tilt being restored to within the 1.02% limit.

Further Corrective Action:

The flux-map results indicated that the incore quadrant power tilt was less than 1.02%. The nuclear instrumentation detectors were then calibrated to agree with the incore.results.

Actions Taken to Prevent Recurrence:

No further corrective action was required.
