NRC I&E BULLETIN 79-02 PIPE SUPPORTS USING CONCRETE EXPANSION ANCHOR BOLTS
Dear Mr. Grier:
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with an up-dated repoi! regarding the inspection and repair of pipe supports and anchors wit.h respect to Bulletin 79-02 at the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant.
Based on an extensive review of this program by the staff at the FitzPatrick Plant, the following schedule of completion of inspect-ion and repair is our best present estimate:
31 March 1980 Completion of initial inspection of baseplates and anchors.
15 April 1980 Completion of baseplate flexibility analysis on finalized inspections and repair packages.
End of 1980 Completion of repairs requiring Refueling Outage plant shutdown and completion of those repairs that were unable to be completed during plant opera-tion because of work load.
End of 1980 Completion of base flexibility Refueling Outage analysis.
Plus 2 Weeks In order to achieve the above schedule, we are increasing contractor work forces by approximately 30 personnel.
This includes 8 0 03 0 60 5q

NRC I&E BULLETIN 79-02 Page several designer / draftsmen required for as-built drawing revision after major repairs.
The extension of schedule reported above is due to tao factors.
The first is that we are experiencing greater than a 40% re-work effort on supports rather than the 30% which was reported to you in my letter of September 13,1979 (JAFP 79-482).
The original estimate was tased upon our work in inaccessible areas of the plant.
The second factor is that in some cases, more extensive repair is required because the work scope (ie. more welding) is more time consuming than had been estimated.
Should you have any further questions regarding this, please contact W. V. Childs, Assistant to the Resident Manager.
Very truly yours, ~'
