Dear Sir:

Subject:

Revision to Maine Yankee's Te'cenical Specifications -

Section 4.6 Periodic Testing Proposed Change Reference is made to the Technical Specifications contained in Appendix A to Operating License No. DPR-36 issued to the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company for the Maine Yankee Plant. We propose to revise those specifications as follows:

1.

Delete current section 4.6 (Periodic Testing) pages 4.6-1, 4.6-2 and 4.6-3 2.

Replace deleted pages with replacement section 4.6 pages 4.6-1, 4.6-2, 4.6-3 and 4.6-4, revised to include auxiliary feedwater flow path verification and proper valve positioning prior to plant restart.

Revised section 4.6 is provided as Attachment A.

Reason for Change Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company was requested in Reference (b) to propose additional auxiliary feedwater system technical specifications relative to flow testing, and system valve alignment.

Reference (c) included Maine Yankee's commitment to submit the requested proposed change. The purpose, therefore, of this submittal is to fulfil that commitment.

Safety Considerations This change is submitted at the request of the USNRC and is not considered to constitute an unreviewed safety question. This change has been reviewed by the Nuclear Safety Audit and Review Committee.
