A=endment of NRC Export License XSM' - 1036 for Pu 238 in sealed sources, contained in Cardiac Pacers
Dear Mrs. Wright:
This letter requests issuance of A=endment #1 to our export license XSNM - 1036 (copy Attached) to extend its expiration to February 1, 1981. Our present license expires on February 1, 1979.
Since Februarf 3, 1977, when this license was originally issued, we have exported two nuclear-powered pacers to Venezuela.
Each pacer contains less than 225 =illigrams of Pu 238, which translates to an export quantity of.450 grams. As we are currently authorized to export a =axi=u= of 22.5 grams of Pu 238, there is no danger of exceeding our quantity restriction.
There is no reason to increase the export quantity authorization in this a=endment.
We do not expect the 22.5 gra= limit will be exceeded by February 1, 1981.
Cordis Corporation is properly licensed by the State of Florida to manufacture and domestically distribute nuclear pacers under license
