OVERSIGHT FOR ISSUING CERTIFICATES OF COMPLIANCE FOR RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL PACKAGES (OIG-17-A-21)
Please find enclosed the updated status for Recommendation 2 contained in the subject report. The remaining recommendations 1, 3, and 4 were closed in Office of the Inspector General memorandums to the Executive Director for Operations dated July 11, 2019, and October 18, 2018.

OVERSIGHT FOR ISSUING CERTIFICATES OF COMPLIANCE FOR RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL PACKAGES OIG-17-A21 STATUS OF RECOMMENDATIONS Recommendation 2: Document and communicate to stakeholders NRCs analysis results identifying the bases for an appropriate term for Part 71 certificates of compliance.
The staff completed its analysis of the basis for of an appropriate term for Part 71 certificates of compliance and published a notice in the Federal Register on July 8, 2019 (84 FR 32479) announcing the availability of the basis document. The Basis Document is publicly available in ADAMS at Accession No. ML19140A059.
The staff updated internal division instructions for licensing to include a discussion of the expiration term and its basis. The staff recommends that this action be closed.
