H. Grier, Director of Regulation United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region I 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, Pennsylvania 19406

Dear Mr. Grier:

IE Bulletin 79-18 required that an audibility survey be performed and plant areas identified where corrective action would be necessary to assure that audible evacuation signals be heard. Corrective actions were to be completed by December 5, 1979.

The repair of the inoperable speaker inside the Reactor Containment Building, completion of the audibility survey within the reactor containment crane wall, and the installation of additional speakers as discussed in our correspondence of September 26, 1979 are currently in progress. As of December 12, 1979, installation of additional speakers is approximately 95%

completed. Completion of these tasks is expected by December 21, 1979.

Very truly yours, 4 A J. A. Werling Superintendent cc: United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Office of Inspection and Enforcement Division of Reactor Operations Inspectioi 1795 fi5$ (,
