SUMMARY
OF MEETING WITH SANDIA LABORATORIES Members of the NRC staff met with representatives of Sandia Laboratories in Bethesda, Maryland on May 25, 1978 to discuss the general plans for accomplishing the work that Sandia will perfonn under contract to the NRC.
Significant items that were discussed at the meeting are summarized in the following paragraphs. A list of persons who attended the meeting is enclosed with this sunnary report. The items discussed at this meeting are of concern to the NRC staff members assigned to the NRR Systems Interaction Working Group and the Engineering Methodology Standards Branch of the Office of Standards Development.
The Task Manager for Task A-17 explained the organizational structure and relationship of the organizational units that will be involved in accomplishing this task.
J. Hickman (Sandia Laboratories) presented information related to the methodology that Sandia Laboratories will consider for systems interactions.
He also presented infomation which describes other work perfomed by Sandia Laboratories that uses methodology that is appropriate to systems interaction. All of this above infonnation is summarized in Enclosure 2 to this meeting summary.
We discussed the need for timely inputs from the NRR Systems Interaction Working Group and Sandia Laboratories to complete Subtasks 1 and 2 which are related to defining the program scope and developing the criteria for bounding the interactions that are to be considered.
All persons concerned with this task were requested to submit their ideas within several weeks.
