Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
Docket sc. 50-289 Operating License No. DPR-50 Nonroutine 30-Day Environmental Report 75-03 In accordance with 5.6.2b (h) of the Environmental Technical Specifications for our Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit 1 (TMI-1), we are sutritting notification of a measured level of radioactive raterial which exceeded four times the control station value for a conthly cc=posite of veekly grab samples representing the period August 2, through August 30, 1975 We vould like to point out that the level of radioactivity associated with this sa=ple is approximately 1/100th of the Maximum Permissible Concentration limit stated in 10CFR20 for me=bers of the public. Hence, at ne tine was the health and safety of the public threatened by the radiological condition of the river as indicated by this sample.
Please note that as discussed on Nove:ber 20, 1975 in a telephone conversation between Mr. Spessard (URC) and Mr. Snyth (Met-Ed) this report is 15 days late in that the reporting date was inappropriately keyed to our consultant's final report October 22, 1975 instead of their preli=inary notification of October 7, 1975 Steps have been taken to ensure that all future preliminary notifications are sent to the appropriate manage ent level personnel in order to avoid this situation in the future.
We trust that the submission of this report satisfies the reporting requirements referenced above and adequately ansvers any concerns you may have.
Sincerely,
- igned - R. C. ATUC!d R. C. Arnold Vice President FCA
