973-3335 or (Friday, January 26, 1965) 973-3446 AEC SCHEDULES PUBLIC HEARING MARCH 5 TO CONSIDER PERMIT FOR NUCLEAR POWER ?LANT IN PENNSYLVANIA The Atomic Energy Commission has scheduled a public hear-ing March 5 at Middletown, Pennsylvania, to consider the application of Metropolitan Edison Company for a permit to build a power reactor on Three Mile Island in the Susquehanna Rive r.
The hearing will begin at 10 a.m.
in the Middletown Moose Home, 100 Mill Street, Middletown.
The Commission has ap-pointed an Atomic Safety and Licensing Board to conduct the hearing.
Members of the board are Mr. Reuel C.
Stratton, a consulting engineer of Hart ford, Connecticut; Dr. Clarke Williams, former Deputy Director of Brookhaven National Lab-oratory, Upton, Long Island, New York; and J.
D.
Bond, a hear-ing e xaminer for the Commission.
Mr. Bond will be chairman o f the board.
Dr. John H.
Buck, The Budd Company, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, has been designated as an alternate technical member of the board.
A prehearing conference will be held at the same time and location on February 20.
Metropolitan Edison Company of Reading, Pennsylvania, has applied for a permit to ecnstruct a pressurised water reactor with an initial net electrical output o f 831,000 kilowatts.
It would be locatec on Three Mile Island near the east shore of the Susquehanna River above York Haven da:r.
The site is in Lonconde rry Township of Dauphin County, about 10 miles southeast of Harrisburg.
Babcock & Wilcox Company will furnish the nuclear steam cupply system, Gilbert Associates, Inc. Will be archit e c t -e nginee r for the project and United Engineers and Constructors, Inc. will manage construction o f the plant.
