THREE MILE ISLAND NUCLEAR STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-289 AND 50-320
Dear Mr. O 'Reilly:
Your letter of October 17, 1972 stated that certain activities appeared to be in violation of Section 50.55(e), Part 50, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations. The item of concern was a fire which occurred within the RP4 nozzle of the Unit 1 reactor pressure vessel.
Originally, it was the applicant's opinion that this incident was not a reportable item.
However, upon further investigation of the extent of chloride contamination, the decision was made to report the incident (see my letter to Mr. Kruesi dated November 6,1972).
As discussed in my letter to Mr. Kruesi all corrective action has been completed on the subject incident and the applicant considers reporting procedures in existence today adequate to preclude violation of the reporting requirements in the future.
