Dear Mr. Rankin:

This is in response to your letter to the Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission dated September 28, 1979. The proposed sale of gas leases (Nos. 67 and 69) on the Outer Continental Shelf in the Gulf of Mexico covers the same general area that was the subject of previous inquiries.

In our reply of Mdrch 14, 1979, we provided responses to a set of specific questions relating to one proposed project, and again on July 25, 1979 we responded to z. sec nd request for information. Copies of the abcve correspondence are enclosed for your convenience.

To date we have not identified any conflicts between the prcposed sale of gas laases 67 and 69 and the facilities presently licensed by the NRC or with any facility which is in the licensing process. Alsc, we are not aware of any proposed facility within our agency's purview which might be in conflict with the above mentioned sales.

We are grateful for having an opportunity to comment on your proposed project.

Sincerely,

&y Ort..a! s' ped by L G. Cze Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation
