Gentlemen:
Attached is information on purge valves and their actuators requested in your July 16, 1979, letter.
Each type of actuator and the purge valves were seismically qualified by individual analysis in the early 1970's.
Purging at power is restricted by administrative controls to less than eight hours per issuance of a Reactor Building Gaseous Waste Release Permit. An average of approximately six of these permits have been issued per year during the last four years, which indicates an average f forty-eight hours per year.
However, the unit is usually purge time o p2 aced in a cold shutdown condition during the purging operation which will give an actual average purge time of much less than forty-eight hours per year for purging at power.
