Your memo dated November 10, 1976 This note confirms a telecon with Al Hintze, SD.
t I believe that this paper proposes a radically new intermediate grade of instrument, between safety-grade and control-grade.
i I further believe that this is basically a good idea, long needed.
However, NRC review of such a step should be more than selected coments on an obscure definition in an IEEE draft.
SD and NRR at least nedd to develop NRC polic,v on the subject, reviewed at c
the appropriate management levels.
I strongly urged Al that for lack of such attention consistent i
with the P466 deadline, NRC should take the necessary time to do the job right, getting an extension of time from IEEE if possible.
