IIe nd r i e, Chairman Nuclear Regulatory Commission 1717 II Street Washington, D.C.

20555

Dear Mr. IIe n d r i e,

The disaster at Three Mile Island has raised questions in many mirds concerning the safety of other nuclear power plants.

I would appreciate it if you could provide the following information at the soonest possible date:

}p a). What was the sequence of events at the Three Mile Island plant, and how could it have been avoided?

b). Could a similar sequence occur at the Diabla Car. yon plant in California, and if so, how could it be prevented?

c). Is there currently an approved emergency evacuation plan in existence for Diablo?

While I realize it may take several weeks to re-construct the events in Pennsylvania, a preliminary response ased on the facts as they are now known would be appreciated.

Sincerely your,

I
