CASE HISTORIES OF RADIOGRAPHY EVENTS Description of Circumstances:
During and subsequent to regional meetings with industrial radiographers in 1977-78, discussions indicated that the review of case histories of radiography incidents was a valuable training tool.
Subsequently, Appendix A of 10 CFR Part 34 was acended (March 3, 1980) to include case histories as a required trair.ing subject. You have recently been sent a compilation of case histories concerning overexposures, unneces sa ry exposures and other unusual events that have occurred during the conduct of radiography operations.
That document is intended to provide subject material for Item V, Appendix A, 10 CFR Part 34.
Notice to Radiography Licensees Radiography licensees are required by 10 CFR Part 34.31 (a)(1), which references Appendix A, to include a review of case histories.of radiography accidents as part of the training program for radiographers.
NRC licensees authorized to use byproduct material pursuant to 10 CFR Part 34 should include the case history document in their radiographer training program as required subject matter.
Additional copies can be obtained from the NRC/GPO Sales Program, USNRC, Washington, D.C. 20555, for $1.75 a copy.
For case in ordering you should reference the document as NUREG/BR-001, Vol.
1.
