CASE HISTCRIES OF RADIOGRAPHY EVEi!TS Description of Circumstances:
Durina and subseouent tc recional meetinas with industrial radicaraphers in 1977-73, discussions indicated that the review of case histories of radiography incidents was a valuable trainina tool.
Subseouently, Appendix A of 10 CFR Part 34 was amended (March 3, 1980) to include case histories as a reouired training rubj ec t.
You have recently been sent a connilation of case istories concerninc, overexposures, unnecessary exposures and other unusual events that have occurred during the conouct of radicaraphy operations.
That document is intended to provide subject rateria l for Iten V, Appendix A, 10 CFR Part 34.
I!atice to Raciogranny Licensees Radiography licensees are required by 10 CFR Part 34.31 (a)(1), which references Appendix A, to include a review of case histories of radiography accidents as part of the training program for radiographers.
NRC licensees authorized to use byproduct material pursuant to 10 CFR Part 34 should include the case history document in their radiographer trainina program as required subject matter.
