RE0RGAf4IZATION OF B&W'S Ef4GINEERIfiG DEPARTMENT We have reviewed your February 11, 1980 letter which provides information concerning changes in the organization and distribution of integration responsibilities within the Engineering Department of the B&W fluclear Power Generation Division. While the changes appear straightforward, we request that B&W personnel meet with us to pro-vide additional information to facilitate our assessment of the significance of the changes and the associated urgency of staff review and evaluation.
With regard to Part A of Attachment II, we require information on the methods of design control used to satisfy quality assurance requirements in light of the or-ganizational changes. Part B of Attachment II, " Distribution of Integration Res-ponsibilities," needs particular discussion covering such items as the elimination of System Requirements Specifications, the independence of reviewers within each Engineering Section, and Project Engineering responsibilities relative to review and approval of design documents and changes to design documents. We also request a discussion of B&W's corrective action system for field failures (i.e., hardware or design failures at reactor sites) at this meeting.
