Dear Board Members and Parties:
This letter confims that the Acting Chairman of the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel, in the absence of the Chairman of this Board, has granted a two-week extension of time until Friday, March 21, 1980, in which the Staff may file its Supplenent to NRC Staff Position on fieed to Consider Class 9 Events.
The Acting Ch.irman granted this extension with knowledge of the fact that those parties with contentions raising Class 9 issues and those participating as an interested state or as a state agency under 10 C.F.R. 82.715(c) were notified of this motion and voiced no objection to the extension of time.
As grounds for its oral motion, the Staff noted that additional time would be required because of the nunber and complexity of Staff cennitnents in its review of the TMI-2 accident.
For this reason, an additional two weeks are necessary in order to be as responsive as possible to the questic1s raised by the Board at the seccnd Special Prehearing Conference held v.' February 13, 1980.
