NIPSCO'S RESPONSE TO ILLINOIS' MOTION FOR CONTINUANCE By Order dated February 7, 1980, the Licensing Board es-tablished a schedule for the filing of supplements to petitions for leave to intervene (February 26) and responses thereto (March 7) and for a prehearing conference (March 12-13).
On February _15, the State of Illinois requested a two-week extension for the prehearing conference --
i.e.,
to March 27-28.
Upon receipt of the Illinois motion, counsel for NIPSCO initiated contact by telephone with counsel for petitioners Porter County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, et al. (M r.
(. r. Robbins); City of Gary, Vollen); Lake Michigan Federation M
et ah (Ms. Cohn); Illinois (Mr. Hansell); and the Staff (Mr.
Goldberg) and Mr. Mezo of Local 1010 of the United Steel Workers of America.
We inquired as to representatives' availability on the dates suggested by Illinois (March 27-28) as well as during the week of March 17.
No date appears to be univer-sally convenient although, since, according to his office, Mr.
Hancell is unavailable until March 1, we were unable to ask 8003040
. whether the week of March 17 would be acceptable to Illinois.
NIPSCO will accommodate any schedule established by the Board.
Given the apparent impossibility of accommodating the first preference of all representatives, we respectfully suggest that that the best course may be to adhere to the schedule established by the Board almost two weeks agc.
