Dear Mr. Grier:

On November 26, 1979, we received your letter dated November 1, 1979 inquiring as to our response to I&E Bulletin 79-19, " Packaging of Low-Level Radioactive Waste For Transport and Burial",

Your letter indicated that this bulletin had been sent to us on August 10, 1979; however, as we informed Messrs, G. Walton and J, Davis of your office on November 28, 1979, LILCO has no record of having received that transmittal.

This letter will serve as our 45-day response to items 1 through 8 of the bulletin.

To date, we have not generated or transported any low-level radio-active waste materials and do not anticipate generating any such wastes until after the initial plant fuel load.

Procedures and controls for processing, handling, packaging and transport of low-level radioactive wastes are being prepared and will incorporate the requirements of items 1 through 8 of Bulletin 79-19.

We trust that the above has been responsive to your request, Should you desire any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Very gruly yours, n%%C J.
